Hello BlackBerry 8300 and 8320

Hot on the heels of the Blackberry 8800 and the anticipated 8820, the BlackBerry 8300 (code named Daytona) and its bigger brother the BlackBerry 8320 bring media-centric functionality to the BlackBerry lineup. With the ability to play videos in full screen mode, and a wonderful integrated speaker for your listening enjoyment - the 8300 and 8320 pack quite a bit into a package that's slightly thinner than the 8800. Add in a 2 megapixel camera in both devices, and WiFi in the 8320, and the 8300 family starts to inch towards the top of our list of gotta have gadgets. Expect to see them out in April or May. Thanks to the Boy Genius Report and the gang over at EngadgetMobile for staying on top of this one!

Samsung introduces their second generation UMPC

Okay, so we all remember the huge anticipation over the initial UMPC launches about a year ago - and the eventual let down when the devices seemed to be a little too big and a little less useful than the dream envisioned. Well, Samsung is moving us a little bit closer to that dream with the introduction of their second generation UMPC device, the Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC. The new Q1 Ultra is smaller and lighter than the original, and packs some nice heat with a 7 inch 1024x600 display, 3G HSDPA data, and an Intel 800MHz dual-core processor. It also slips in a cool thumb keyboard that's split between the left and right sides of the screen - and oh yeah - it's running Vista! Nice. Look for the Q1 Ultra to be available in May.

Could this be the Google Phone

Well, we love a good scoop, especially when it involves possibly the hottest potential product on the planet - the much rumored and eagerly anticipated Google Phone - which would compete with the other hottest product on the planet - the Apple iPhone. Both having that large screen we love, a thin profile, and a slick user interface. Potential features of the Google Phone could include WiFi, 3G, and a 2 megapixel camera. We're not sure if this is the real thing, or a possible prototype, but either way the excitement is building - and we'll keep watching for the latest details! Thanks to MobileBurn and EngadgetMobile for this tantalizing scoop on the Google Phone!

Sony Announces the DSC-G1 Digital Camera with WiFi

Now that's a camera! The newly announced Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G1 6 megapixel digital camera is Sony's first to include built-in WiFi for wirelessly transmitting those cool pictures of yours straight from the camera. But Sony didn't stop there - the DSC-G1 also includes 2GB of on-board memory (so you can store lots of pictures without a Memory Stick), a huge 3.5 inch LCD display, and the ability to play slideshows with music using your own music files that you've loaded onto the camera. This WiFi wonder should be available in April for around $600.

Vulcan introduces the FlipStart Micro PC

We love the idea of being able to carry in our pocket a full PC running Windows XP (or Vista)! So we are closely watching the space of so-called Micro PCs that deliver big PC power in small packages. The long awaited Vulcan FlipStart E-1001S is the latest Micro PC to hit the scene, and it delivers with a nice flip-open design, a slick 5.6 inch screen, a full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi, and Windows XP Pro. If the manufacturer, Vulcan Portals, sounds familiar - it's because it is one of the companies under Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen - so it's definitely worth keeping an eye on the FlipStart. Expected retail price is $1,999.

'Missing Sync' allows your BlackBerry and Mac to Connect

Given all of us who love our BlackBerry smartphones, and also love our Macs - there should be a nice elegant solution to sync data between the two of them. Well now there is! Apple iPhone Campaign Officially Launches with Brilliant Academy Awards 'Hello' Commercial

We've got to admit that we love to be entertained and inspired by the great minds over at Apple - and they certainly have done it again! Sunday evening Apple officially launched their Apple iPhone marketing campaign with a wonderful 30 second ad during the Academy Awards. The ad brilliantly weaves together 31 iconic celebrities from television and film, all answering the phone to say 'Hello', and ends with the visual introduction of the Apple iPhone. Most brilliant in the ad is the implied history lesson, showing the advancement over time of the phone, and of media itself - ending in the culminating image of the iPhone as the ultimate blend of both. From Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy (first sitcom shot in front of a live audience in 1951), to Betty Rubble in the Flinstones (one of the first color cartoons in 1962), to Mr. Incredible in The Incredibles (one of Pixar's uber-successful computer generated films from 2004) - the ad spot educates, entertains, and builds our anticipation of the iPhone.

The ad spot follows in the rich tradition of Apple television ads. Similar to the now-famous 'Big Brother' ad which officially launched the Apple Macintosh during the 1984 Super Bowl, the new iPhone 'Hello' ad is also a teaser ad during a blockbuster television event that builds up your interest without knowing what the product is - until the product is revealed at the very end. And, in another nod to Apple's history, the 'Hello' theme of the iPhone ad directly parallels the theme of the early Macintosh 'Hello' ads which depicted the graphical interface of the original Mac displaying 'hello' written in cursive. Thanks Apple for continuing to make wonderful products, and for inspiring us along the way. We can't wait to get our iPhone in June!

Rumor has it that we could be WiFi-ing along with the 8820 by mid-year.
