Apple iPhone Campaign Officially Launches with Brilliant Academy Awards 'Hello' Commercial |

We've got to admit that we love to be entertained and inspired by the great minds over at Apple - and they certainly have done it again! Sunday evening Apple officially launched their Apple iPhone marketing campaign with a wonderful 30 second ad during the Academy Awards. The ad brilliantly weaves together 31 iconic celebrities from television and film, all answering the phone to say 'Hello', and ends with the visual introduction of the Apple iPhone. Most brilliant in the ad is the implied history lesson, showing the advancement over time of the phone, and of media itself - ending in the culminating image of the iPhone as the ultimate blend of both. From Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy (first sitcom shot in front of a live audience in 1951), to Betty Rubble in the Flinstones (one of the first color cartoons in 1962), to Mr. Incredible in The Incredibles (one of Pixar's uber-successful computer generated films from 2004) - the ad spot educates, entertains, and builds our anticipation of the iPhone.
The ad spot follows in the rich tradition of Apple television ads. Similar to the now-famous 'Big Brother' ad which officially launched the Apple Macintosh during the 1984 Super Bowl, the new iPhone 'Hello' ad is also a teaser ad during a blockbuster television event that builds up your interest without knowing what the product is - until the product is revealed at the very end. And, in another nod to Apple's history, the 'Hello' theme of the iPhone ad directly parallels the theme of the early Macintosh 'Hello' ads which depicted the graphical interface of the original Mac displaying 'hello' written in cursive. Thanks Apple for continuing to make wonderful products, and for inspiring us along the way. We can't wait to get our iPhone in June!
