The Sony PlayStation 3 has been one of the most eagerly awaited gaming systems of all time. Sony has announced availability and pricing information for the PlayStation 3, letting the very excited user community know that the hot gaming and entertainment system will be available at the end of 2006. The Playstation 3 will be available in North America on Nov 17, 2006, six days after its availability in Japan on Nov 11, 2006. It will come in two configurations: a 60GB hard drive version will be available for $599, and a 20GB hard drive version will be available for $499.
The system is based on the Cell Processor, and will play CDs, DVDs, and will include a Blue-ray drive. It will support USB, Sony Memory Sticks, SD and CompactFlash, and will also include Ethernet capability, WiFi and Bluetooth.
The audio and video capabilities of the PlayStation 3 will provide an awesome gaming experience, with high definition video up to 1080p, and included Dolby digital surround sound.
Up to seven wireless controllers can be connected to the system at once, and each controller will be able to automatically detect the movement of the players hand and translate it to character movement on the screen.
A variety of game manufacturers will be developing their hottest games for the PlayStation 3, including Electronic Arts which is working on 10 titles for the Playstation 3, including new versions of Madden NFL, NBA and Tiger Woods PGA.
