Sony has announced availability and pricing information for the PlayStation 3. The Playstation 3 will be available in North America on Nov 17, 2006, six days after its availability in Japan on Nov 11, 2006. It will come in two configurations: a 60GB hard drive version will be available for $599, and a 20GB hard drive version will be available for $499. The audio and video capabilities of the PlayStation 3 will provide an awesome gaming experience, with high definition video up to 1080p, and included Dolby digital surround sound.
The system is based on the Cell Processor, and will play CDs, DVDs, and will include a Blue-ray drive. It will support USB, Sony Memory Sticks, SD and CompactFlash, and will also include Ethernet capability, WiFi and Bluetooth.
A variety of game manufacturers will be developing their hottest games for the PlayStation 3, including Electronic Arts which is working on 10 titles for the Playstation 3, including new versions of Madden NFL, NBA and Tiger Woods PGA.
