1. I purchased this tv new: Samsung SlimFit TV (model TX-R3079WH)a little after a year - of course just after the warranty expired it emits this loud high pitch noise that squeals so loud I have to turn off instead of getting a headache. I called Samsung and they were very polite but knew nothing about the TV or the problem and suggested I have someone come out and repair it. This 100+ pound monster is being tossed and I will never again buy Samsung products - ever.

2. This piece of junk has given me problems since I bought it two years ago. The geometry of the picture is bad, digital sound cuts out, and now it won't even turn on. Of course Samsung has left me out in the cold. This is the fourth major problem I've had with this TV in only two years. STAY AWAY FROM SAMSUNG!!!

3. I have to agree with the " This tv is a piece of crap" theme. I have owned my samsung slimfit for about 1 1/2 years. It is only my wife and I so the tv is not getting a whole lot of use relatively speaking. We do not even use the damn thing 3 months out of the year. Now it won't even turn on. Circuit City (whom I will never do business with again) does not fix them and had zero constructive advice.

4. I agree with everyone here. I have had the Samsung TX-R3079WH for about 2 years. It emits this awful high pich noise from the back that you can't stop (even by beating the t.v.). It's like a slot machine. Sometimes it makes the noise, sometimes not. Stay away.

5. Haven't had the high pitch noise, but do have bad picture geometry (curved downward across the bottom), bad focus, digital audio cutting out, and rainbows in the upper corners. Stay away from this one.

6. While this TV is stylish, it is problematic, from pops in the sound, weird coloration at times, but the latest issues is a high pitch squeal coming from the rear. Turning it on or off, or hitting it does nothing to fix the problem

7. Do not buy this TV. The motherboard went out after a few months and now I have the noise from the back everyone else is talking about.

8. The TV was about 20 months old when the high pitched squealing noise started. Does not do it all the time but it will drive you crazy until it decides to stop. Of course it would not make the noise when the service guy was hear.

9. I also had the high pitch noise that was loud enough to drive you crazy. The noise made it very hard to watch TV because it was so distracting. The TV finally died a couple days ago after a very loud pop. I have ready many reviews of people with the same problem, and they didn't get any help from Samsung so I probably won't even bother going to them for help. I also had really bad "burn in" from gaming. Cheers to all who have a 120 pound paperweight.
