Summary:
The Motorola MOTOFONE combines a stylish super-thin 9mm design, with a newly redesigned intuitive user interface, and an affordable price, to create an entirely new phone concept. The MOTOFONE is primarily positioned as a low-cost entry level device for developing countries, but it’s slick design and low price point may make it attractive to a wide range of consumers. The MOTOFONE is Motorola’s first phone to be released as part of the Motorola SCPL family of phones. The SCPL platform will feature phones that are ultra-slim, and contain an entirely new operating system and intuitive user interface.
The MOTOFONE features a new ClearVision display that uses a very crisp Electrophoretic display (similar to e-ink) which is viewable both in bright sunlight and near darkness. It also includes a very nice flush fitting keyboard, and an icon-based user interface, all packaged within a dust-resistant design.
The reception on the MOTOFONE has been enhanced with the use of dual antennas within the phone, one at the top and one at the bottom. Additionally, the MOTOFONE provides extended battery life – with up to 450 minutes of talk time and 400 hours of standby time.
The user interface for the MOTOFONE has been completely redesigned to make it very easy to use. The new interface includes the large ClearVision display, the use of graphical icons within the menu commands, and local language voice prompts.
The MOTOFONE is expected to be available in late October 2006. Stay tuned for the latest information!
