Push Basic Flip Phones Into The Dust With The LG/Sprint PM225

4 out of 5
Exactly two years from now, I got my first cellphone, the Samsung VGA1000. It was a pretty good phone, it had tons of features like a camera and downloads, a 300-person contact book, and other similar features. It had above average reception anywhere I took it and it lasted the whole time only getting a few scratches. Well, it was all great with me and the phone but Sprint's contact is two years. I had two options. One was to keep the VGA1000 and use it for another two years. It was still in good condition but about two months ago I noticed some loose and possible breakage area around the flip part of the phone and did ave some scratches and I wasn't quite sure if it will last to 2008. My second otion was to get a new phone with $150 credit from Sprint. That sounded like a good deal, $150 deducted from my next purchase? Of course, who wouldn't? I went to Amazon to look and see what kind of a selection Sprint had. I looked at three phones. The first one I looked at was the MM8300 from Sanyo, it had similar features to this one, but it was pretty expensive even with the deduction and had same features cheaper models had. Then I looked at the Samsung A840, it was noticeable from the features that it was the 2006 edition of my phone. But it did have a few turn-offs. First turn-off big time was the 2.5 star rating on Amazon, I would've said they just had bad luck but there were a lot of reviews written. I also looked at Epinions but couldn't find A840 in the database or maybe I typed it wrong, either way, it just wasn't good. Another turn off was no speakerphone, I know the VGA1000 didn't but I kind of wanted one because the spekaer is usually louder and I can do other things while talking to people. Then, I looked at the PM225, then my heart set on it. Gigantic phone book, great looks, low price, good rating, camera, speakerphone, and tons of other features.
The LG PM225 is an above average camera phone that would be perfect for teenagers looking to enhance their phone or text messages or those just looking for a phone with a few more features than the regular old flip phone. Its battery life could be a little better but that's really the only gripe that I have about it. It has tons of features in a small, compact design. Even with an internal antenna it has above average reception and works well in the coverage area. If your looking for a phone that's a little heavier in features without going overboard at a decent price, check out the PM225.

Nice little phone for the money

4 out of 5
I've had this phone for 2 months. I am able to receive and place calls in my office which I was not able to do with my Samsung phone. Pictures are fine if in well lighted or outdoor area, a little blurry in darker areas. I like the voice recognition, however sometimes it doesn't work on the first try.
Battery life is pretty long.
I had no problem accessing the web.
Nice little phone for the money.

Great Phone in a Little Package

4 out of 5
I just got this phone a few days ago and its very easy to learn to use! Its perfect for a teenage girl such as me =) It has all the features she would want. Pretty stylish, camera, and she can record her own ringtones! Its very customizable and sprint has a great coverage though it wont work in my room since my room is basically underground (the bottom of my window is grass) but i have found it has great service every where else =) great menu, easy to use, and perfect for any age!

poorly designed and drops calls

2 out of 5
This phone looks good, but that's about all I can say.
1) The phone drops many calls, even when the signal is supposedly excellent.
2) The speaker phone is useless with terrible sound quality. The regular speaker is not much better.
3) The phone is incredibly slow. If you press a button, it takes the phone literally one second to respond. Scrolling through a menu of any sort is a pain.
4) When the phone is charging, the front LCD is lit, and can not be turned off. This is a huge waste of electricity.
5) The camera button on the side can not be locked. Whenever it is held for a few seconds, the camera is activated. While it may possibly be convenient to some, it is awful for me since the camera gets activated in my pocket, and wastes electricity, withouth me knowing.
